From Nebraska

I haven't yet written about what T and I "did" for five weeks in Nebraska. That's mostly because we didn't do much that would be "blog worthy" or of general interest. But in case you're still wondering...

We "borrowed" our Senegal parrot, Mango, from the Nebraska Parrot Rescue. She remembered us immediately, and we had a great time with her.

This little dude, on the other hand, didn't seem to remember us at all. Sigh.

We visited friends and got to see little Ella and Briette in the Moroccan outfits we sent them for Christmas (and which, if I remember correctly, arrived at their house in March).

This is my sister and her boyfriend at the Sunken Gardens in Lincoln. They came up from Dallas to see us.

Here you see T and me in an artsy astrological garden in the Omaha Old Market.

Sister and boyfriend again--this time on the new pedestrian bridge in Omaha that crosses the Missouri River to Iowa and was a great location from which to view the historic flooding in the area.

Speaking of flooding--can you see how far back behind me those trees go, giving a sense of the impressive flooding in the small town of Niobrara?

Here's the whole familial gang, at Ashfall State Park.

T and my mom are trying to understand a mind-blowingly complicated (but also fun) game my sister and her boyfriend brought with them.

On their last night in Nebraska, the sister/boyfriend team taught me how to make "sushi." Theirs was made with smoked salmon direct from Alaska, and mine was made with fried tofu. It was a wonderful feast!

  1. You have no idea how much it warms my heart to see pictures of Janessa (and pictures of your family all together). Thank You!

  2. Erin, I'm very glad to know that. I regret that we weren't able to make it out to Eugene, because I would have LOVED to see you and meet your family.
