My blog is called "Cornfields to Casbahs," but I've really just been focusing on the "casbahs" part.
So here's a post about the cornfields.
Apparently some economists did a study to try to determine the "happiest" state in the union. And in true economist fashion (sorry to any economists in my audience), they equated "happiness" with money and financial stability. If one can put aside that problematic logic, it is interesting to find out which state won the contest. Check it out here.
JABS,
ReplyDeleteWhat about the Gross National Happiness index?
I was seriously thinking about Bhutan when writing this. But now that I see it in print, I can see the potential for a few jokes. :)
This report is merely another example of cherry-picking one's data. Had they factored in the state mood after Nebraska was robbed by the Big 12 referees in the Texas A & M game, or had they considered the loss to Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship, the happiness index would have been dramatically different.
